What is/are the cause(s) of these error coins:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...IBSA:US:1123

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Error-Cent-...em255e0f0dc8

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Error-Cent-...em588a5140fd

The indent seemed to only happened to one side. AND this one is different:

Any chance for these to be post mint damage ( PMD)?

Thanks guys.

I'm not the one to explain the reason for the incidence of these errors, but I can assure you that those are all real, legitimate, mint errors.

Those are all genuine errors. An indent strike happens when a planchet partially overlaps another planchet in the striking chamber. Basically it's a struck-through error, but the object it's being struck-through is a planchet. The brockage happens when a coin is struck-through another already struck coin.

I agree, all are genuine errors and Captain gives a great explanation.

I thought the same thing as SilentAsian when they popped up on a search for me yesterday...
