I have about 10 ounces in scrap silver. Does anyone know where I could take/send it to be melted into bullion? Or would it be best to keep it how it is? Any information is greatly appreciated.

IMHO not worth doing at 10 oz unless you have a torch and crucible to do it yourself.

There have been some posts on here before addressing the subject.
I plan on doing business again with Midwest Refineries when the time comes.

I would sell that scrap and then turn around and buy bars/bullion coins.

It would not pay you to do it. You are just trading bullion silver for bullion silver.
If you prefer nicely presented modern bars or rounds, then go for it. Just don't expect to make a profit.
I also have about 9 ounces of junk silver coins. Eventually, I will convert all of it as part payment on a single high value numismatic item. Even so, I would NOT expect a 'paper' profit at the time of the conversion.

Quote: I would sell that scrap and then turn around and buy bars/bullion coins. I agree with Mitch. Scrap is pretty useless stuff because no one knows whether or not it even is silver or, if it is, how pure it is. Because of this, it can be difficult to get a decent price for it or even to sell it at all. For selling later on, you are always better off with something that is more recognizable, such as coins or bars.

I think people on ebay would buy it off you pretty quick.... just beware the fees! I think there's a place you can send it, and you dont have to directly pay anything, but they take 10% of your silver. So you would basically get 9 oz's in bar(s) back.

If you could find the info on that for me that would be great. Also I have thought about just selling it in and buying bullion. Midwest refineries will pay me in gold or silver bullion. I think I may just hold on to it until an opportunity arises. THANKS EVERYONE

Yea that's probably who you were thinking of because they pay 90% which for 10 ounces of scrap I would re-coupe 9 depending on spot and what not. Thanks to all who have helped and commented on this topic. You have been much help.
