bought this on ebay, the picture looked good. When I received it, I realized that the seller used stock photos and wasn't answering emails. I continued looking at the coin and realized that it was a shadow Ike (based on the Ike Group website). So I got lucky, lol

I have been looking for an 1860-O Half Dime for quite a while and won this one off of Heritage Auctions Sunday Internet auction today along with a possibly unlisted, by Fortin, 1883 dime. Both are PCGS MS-64 with the 1883 having a green bean.

With a mintage of 1,060,000 the 1860-O Half Dime would seem to be easy to find but I have found it not, but rather difficult in any grade AU or higher in original problem free condition. It is the only legend obverse New Orleans Half Dime.

Nice Seated Liberty quarter!

And that Half Dime, wow! Looks like it was a good thing you couldn't find one. With time you got the perfect coin!

My dealer was selling morgans for spot price + 1$ (19$ish)
So out of the box I choose 2 shiny Morgans which didn't look polished.
I sent one as a gift in secret santa and the other I put somewhere but just can't
find it.

I found it in a joblot of world coins . I know it has a hole and some would discard it but considering how scarce these are. To have something this old and steeped in history still feels a privilege to own. And if the hole had to be anywhere I guess it's in the best place

Update about my 1883 Liberty Seated dime. Gerry Fortin has confirmed it is a new die pair for this date. It does not match the two known dime pairs (F-115 & F-119) with a denticle ruler position of -1B0. His F-115 http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/..._115page.htm has a high date with a downward slope and no obverse die clash with a perfect die reverse. This dime has a medium level date with a slight downward slope and die clash marks on the obverse and reverse. The F-119 http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/..._119page.htm has a complete 3 and was a prof die used to strike coins for circulation after it was retired from making proof coins.
