I was more thinking about a Cud but I could try getting some close-up photos tomorrow. Either way it looks like some sort of error.

That's strange. It looks like either a Cud that spawned another one to the left of it that is retained. Or it was a huge Retained Cud then 1/3 of it broke off and became a full Cud.

But what I think I'm seeing to the left could just be the bad pic

That 1880-cc is coin perfection IMO. It looks as if it was slapped down often in the bars of Genoa and Gardnerville.

Not a bad date/mintmark for $1 each, even in well-circulated condition. One is a little better than the other.
