What are the best books to have about coins and collecting them? I want to get some new books about U.S. Coins but I don't know what the best books to get are. Any one have any suggestions?

The CherryPickers Guide is very good, although the prices (values) are a bit wacky.
Also, for Barbers, there are a number of books out there, David Lawrence's are the best, although they are dated.
In addition, you have to get a copy of Breen's encyclopedia. Heavy and expensive, I think that the current list price is $125, it is worth every penny. Even though there are some errors, (times and info change) it is still excellent.

My suggestion is a little more work but you can end up with exactly what you want. If you have a printer, paper, 3 hole punch, 3 ringed binders, divider pages with tabs, start your own books. This is what I do. Evey time I see a topic on this or other forums I print them out, put them in a binder with a tab denoting the topic. Example is how many times people ask how to take photos of coins. Their is a palce called Table Top Studio with Coin Photo Techniques that I have printed out many pages of items. Also, on other coin forums anything about photo of coins I print out and now have a 3" thick album on coin photography. I've done the same with coin contaminates, coin values, grading of coins, cleaning of coins, etc. As you have noticed you may buy a book on cents and their may be only 1 page on the one your interested in. Make your own and you can fill each volume with what you want. If you don't like a particular item some day, just rip it out and throw it away. Can't do that with a book you bought to easily. Of course if you work in an office where the above is abundant.....................
