1947 P Walking Half Dollar Posted On Ebay

I am relatively new, but was not able to find an record of a 1947 P being minted in either the Red Book or a view other websites. Any thoughts? muddler Pillar of the Community United States 7191 Posts	Posted 11/05/2011 6:59 pm First of all to the sight. Most all coinage made in Philadelphia had no mint mark. The reference to "P" would be a walker with no mint mark. Report this Post to the Staff

numismaniac Valued Member United States 361 Posts	Posted 11/05/2011 11:32 pm Approx 4 million 1947 halves minted in Phil. This was the last year of the series. Minted in Philly and Denver only. No S (San Francisco) that year. As stated above there is no mintmark on coins minted in Philadelphia. Report this Post to the Staff
Gyrene7483 Pillar of the Community United States 1704 Posts	Posted 11/07/2011 12:06 am It is fairly common for people to use a P for denoting coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint even though there was no mint mark for this mint until very recently.
