My dad was cleaning the house and found this. He asked me about it but I only know about US coins. Could you guys help me with this? What is it, what metal composition, value?

Yes, it is British. It's a crown, it weighs 28.276 g and is silver. This one is probably worth close to melt ($30)

Really cool, tell your father the next one he finds can be my Christmas present

I agree with 10x, except as to value.
Crowns (nominal value, five shillings) of that era are extremely rare in any grade better than yours. So, yours is quite "collectable" - at least $50 worth.
There are two varieties: the difference being the edge inscription, but I'm not aware if one variety is scarcer, or more sought-after, than the other.

metal composition: "sterling silver" 92.5%

Any other opinions to the value though?

That's a great thing to find - congratulations. I wouldn't say it's extremely rare though - there are 25 on ebay at the moment. In this condition it's really only going to be slightly above melt if there is any premium at all.
