Just got her in the mail today ... No, it's not quite MS-63 material, but for my first one, I love it ... A couple dings, and maybe a really old light cleaning, but some really nice toning, I would grade her at a F-15, maybe a VF-20... I never realized how high the relief is on this type... In a time when the designs are constantly lowered into the fields, it's refreshing to have a coin literally pop out of the surfaces... A big thank you goes out to someone I will leave nameless ... I'm really starting to like the earlier styles of American coinage... Tell me what ya think...

A beauty, no doubt! SWEET acquisition! I would also go with an F-15.

It came from a trade... The original coin that I traded was obtained for less than $20 in an antique mall, and the person I traded with got a very, very good deal...

I tried for a couple months to get the grading down on these before I tried to get one, and get a handle(somewhat) of what I was getting into... Already looking for the next one, as there are so many varieties of this type, it's gonna be fun... I must saythe "32 days of..." thread really peaked my interest in this series ...

Here's hoping they resurrect the "32 days of . ." thread sometime in the future. I wasn't a member the first time around.

It's better looking than the Bust Half I have...which I don't have...yet. Nice 4-bits!

These are by FAR my favorite coins. I was left 1 in my grandfathers collection and I was hooked. I personally think they are the most beautiful designs of any coin the US minted. I'm on ebay seemingly every day looking for XF trying to buy but mostly just keep drooling. The one I started with was about this same grade and it's a great one to start with. It seems like VF25 and below can be purchased fairly reasonably for roughly 200 year old larger coins. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ht_500wt_846This is one I was bidding on but then it got jacked up so, oh well. Good luck collecting these, wonderful coin.

Congratulations! It's a great coin at a great price! Bust halfs and large cents are my favorites! I'm an amateur and find the grading of these to be difficult so I post many of my bust half purchases to the experts on this forum. Often I guess a lower grade but find that there are so many weak strikes especially in the earlier years. Coins that appear worn to me actually grade higher.
