I'm better with morgans, but I'll hazard ms64. Grade aside, the toning is just beautiful. I really like it!

Great job Bruce! I would have said 64 to because of the marks on the obverse but the grader felt sorry for someone and gave a point or two.

What a Beautiful coin. What can cause toning like that and how do you tell if it is artificial or naturally caused by contact with an album or paper envelope with sulfur in it? Thanks.

Thank you :) I would consider any Walker that has been put in an album, paper roll or paper envelope for years to be NT. How I know since I was not the original owner, I would say because after you see enough NT coins you can pretty much tell by the colors. In your folders or albums do you have any coins that are toned? Do you consider these coins to be AT or NT ? What do you think about the term "Market Acceptable"?

I think coins that have toned over time due to contact with albums, mint bags or even coin holders are perfectly acceptable and in many cases desirable. I like them! My question stated more clearly would be, how do you tell when a coin has been artificially toned? By that I mean intentionally by the owner through dipping or other chemical means designed to deceive a buyer. You stated that you can tell by the colors. Could you be more specific? Trying to learn here and thanks. Oh yes I do have some coins in Mint holders that are toning from the rims since I got them over thirty years ago.

Silver Dollar, I am no longer the owner of the 45-S in this post, I sold it a while back. I think the new owner is very happy with it.

What a stunning coin...wish it had been ME you'd sold it to!
