This is one of the nicest/highest grade Sestertius, I have ever seen for sale. Look at the detail on the wreath, unbelievable. It almost looks fake... what do y'all think I should offer?

That's a beautiful coin and one I would love to have in my collection. The value for Hadrian coins are all over the board, but I found a similar coin, RIC 614, for sale on acsearch that is selling for $100. http://www.acsearch.info/search.htm...=&c=&a=&l=#1Your coin is in much better shape. MUCH BETTER. Does the seller have a starting price? I don't know for sure what the value might be, but I would start with a low offer and work my way up to whatever I was willing to pay. To hazard a guess, ugg, I guess I might say $250 for such a nice coin. But this is just a guess on my part. Good luck and let us know.

Very nice coin. I think you should offer the most money that you feel comfortable offering for it. That's my input.

I know this is a nice coin. Very nice indeed. But you will not get this coin for less than $1000 and perhaps much much more. I wouldn't give that kind of money, but I know others will. I would rather take that $1000 and buy 50 coins at $20 or 100 coins at $10. Unless one needs this particular coin in this quality condition for a collection. I need a Caligula Denarius I know will cost me dearly when I find one. And I will pay whatever I need to in order to acquire it. But if it's not needed for any particular reason, I can find good quality Hadrian coins for a heck of a lot less then what you will have to pay for this coin. Once again, good luck and keep us informed. I'm curious to know the final asking price.

Every so often a coin of this quality comes up for sale, but not often, especially on other than reputable auction houses. This particular coin seems to have some pedigree to go along with it. Provenance as it is called in numismatics. Very nice coin indeed.

I have a recollection of a Hadrian sestertius going over $5k but it had perfectly smooth surfaces and this one does not. We each have standards and place different values on different degrees ofquality but this one is already over my head so it is just a matter of who shows up to bid.

This is now upto $1000 with 1 hour to go - Reserve is still not met.
Completely pointless starting this auction at $0.99!

I don't know if that coin is worth $2000, but I could be easily satisfied by a $200 Hadrian coin.

It makes me wonder what that coin has been doing for the last 2000 years. I've only been around a little over 40 and haven't worn as well.

I just happened to see this coin--how does it compare? Rome Mint. Attributed to the Alphaeus Master. Orichalcum. 25.53 g. 34.5 mm. HADRIANVS - AVG COS III P P Bare-headed, draped bust of Hadrian right. / PAX AVG around in field, S - C Pax standing left holding branch in right hand and cornucopia in left.

They are obviously different dies, but I can't help thinking the actual image of Hadrian may have been done by the same die cutter, the style looks so similar in each case.
