I am new to this so bare with me. This canada penny is a 1972 but what happened to it. It does not look like it was smashed by anyone,looks like it may have come from the mint this way. Is it worth keeping.

Without seeing the coin in hand, I would say yes, keep it. It looks like some of the planchet flaws that I have in my collection, and certainly flaws like that left the mint (in bags) back in the 1970s.
