My local coin dealer has a G-6 1916 SLQ for 3400.00
which is mid way between Greysheet G-4 and VG-8.

I need feedback on if that is a fair price.

Thanks in advance, John

Is it slabbed or raw? Also without a photo it would be hard to evaluate the coin.

NGC Slab, just assume it is a nice coin,
I am trying to figure out if it is priced fairly in relationship to the greysheet.

How long has he been sitting on it and had money tied up in that coin for? Just like new car dealers, you can get a deal on a car that has been on the lot for a while that they are paying interest on that they need to move off of the books even if they sell it at break even.

Recent auction history in G06:

May-2010 $3,672 G6 PCGS ebay
Apr-2010 $2,990 G6 PCGS Heritage
Dec-2009 $3,220 G6 PCGS Heritage
Oct-2009 $3,220 G6 PCGS Heritage
Apr-2009 $3,738 G6 PCGS Heritage
Jan-2009 $3,738 G6 NONE Stack's

$3,400 is a fair price if it's accurately graded.
Rest in Peace

Make sure that the bottom of all 4 digits are visible for that grade.

It sounds like a pretty fair deal to me. You could always make an offer. Maybe they'll take $3200? Make sure you have cash. It is more enticing to a dealer if he doesn't have to pay credit card fees. You never know. The worst thing they could do is tell you no.

Saw the coin today, and it was a dud , just parts of a couple of numbers in the date.
TRUST was not complete and there were no complete wing tips on the back.

I think this coin was over graded and was just a G-4

Thanks to everyone for their feedback, it was appreciated.
