I was in Canberra recently and naturally visited the RAM. While there I bought the Australian Wool 2 coin set for $15.

Browsing ebay I was shocked to discover this listing on ebay (and that they have sold 5 of these).

To be selling a single coin in a 2 x 2 for $22 when you can get the same coin as part of a two coin set with RAM packaging for $15 seems to me to be deceitful. Even though CarolynCoins technically haven't done anything wrong, in my opinion, they are being ethicly dishonest, especially as they are an internet business, not just a private ebay sale.

I have never bought any items from CarolynCoins as I consider them to be massively over priced. Now they are firmly on my "boycott" list.

It's a free market if people wish to pay that price it's up to them.

They are also selling the 2012 hyper metallic 50c for $47 when it can be obtained as part of the 6 coin 2012 uncirculated set for $32.

Technically that's true. My objection is on more of an ethical ground. After all, this is not just a private ebay sale, this is from an ebay business.

I would also be interested to know where this stands legally. A RAM product which is still being sold by the RAM has been altered and sold for a profit. I'm sure that Nike or Sony would have their lawyers involved if this was one of their products.

I agree, it's ripping people off.
But, how many broken down sets do we see on ebay now?
People have six listings and list 5c 10c 20c 50c 1$ 2$
If people can't go, 'doi', then the onus is back on them.

Back on the two coin set, with it's retail being $15, I'd be happy to see each coin being sold at $10 (hey! some people like buying singles - I have a collection of 1966-2010 5 and 10 cent proofs I purchased as singles!) - but when it's over cost of a current set I think it's problematic.

If people are willing to pay that amount then RAM must be shorting themselves!

I AGREE MobOfRoos! That seller is a freak with her prices! She has some dollar coins at $30 a pop! I have bought many singles from different sellers on ebay, mainly 5 cent specimens and proofs, and a few other Aussie denominations. I got no problem paying a few bucks for each. But like you say...she's selling that new Hyper 50 cent for over $45! I didnt see that on ebay until my wife pointed her out. I reckon that's so Un-Australian to sell a single coin way more than the actual cost of the whole Mint Set. Psst... We should start a petition and get her put on HINCH! That's Life! Brett And don't get me started on the ebay postage rorters... Charging $5 for postage only to receive a coin in an envelope with a 60c stamp on it! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
