ICG is very very lax on moderns and it seems they have an abundance of 70's coming from there that would never make a 68 at the big 3 so ICG is definately not advised for modern coins

Ummm Amac, James Taylor was originally at ICG before he left for ANACS. He is now back at ICG because his family still lives in that area.

I have no intent of demeaning ICG; they have their quirks, just like NHC and PCGS, but there's no question that they are doing their level best to provide quality, honest service.

The important point is, in this day and age, PF/MS70 is no longer the Holy Grail that it once was. Indeed, it's a realistic goal for US Proof mintages. Technology and procedure have combined to create a product which is as technically superior as any coinage has ever been. PF69 is almost a consolation grade these days, and I know very few people who will admit even owning PF67-68 ASE'S of recent mintage.

Of course, I still think NGC hands out 70's like Halloween candy, but that's another thread entirely.

Edit: By the way, cuedude, are you a pool shooter or is your nick significant for another reason?

There is alot of good info in this thread about TPG's. Thanks for all the info. And yeah Dave, I've been seen around pool halls all across the country. Not that I'm actually that good, I just enjoy the game, and where I am at any given time, is a good place to play.
