I would give it a VF-20, I don't slab any of my coins so, I can't help you out with that question.

I'm not an authority on the subject but I'd be surprised if this piece was just good enough to go in the 'Very Fine' bin. Perhaps the low res scans are not doing it justice.

Sorry you were disappointed,but for an EF grade the segments of the braid should be visible, the laurel leaf should not be merged with the ear and the circle beads should all be clear and sharp.Perhaps there are weak strike issues with this date that I'm not aware of.You should leave the scan posted for a while longer,perhaps an expert in this particular series can shed more light.

When did I say I expected an EF grade? The coin is NOT, however, the lowest possible VF grade. I'll accept a VF-20 when a "professional" grader renders that opinion.

A scan on a coin never very rarely ever gives a good 'look' at a coin.

You should have probably left your coin up in your post then maybe a 'professional' grader would see it and give their opinion.

But, I think DBM explained it right.
