i just found a 1937 LWC that has absolutly no reverse to it and seams just a bit thinner than a normal LWC I would normally just think this is a PMD but the reverse has the same brown color as the obverse and the other strange thing is it is very smooth with no signs of sanding or being cut thinner .anyone have an idea what this could be?

Images would help to see what you have.

Probably just a coin someone ground the reverse off of. Depending on what was used to remove the image, it may or may not show any grinding or sanding marks. The color makes no difference either. If this happened to the coin 50 years ago, it would have aged to the same color as the front by now.

unfortunatly I have no camera right now but I agree with you that it might have been gound down but why would the surface of it be super smooth with absolutly no signs of grinding at all, there are no visible marks on the smooth side at all and no signs on the edge that it has been cut either.

If the rim on the reverse is missing, then it is polished down.

here are some pics of one I found and posted the same question, if it helps. Just a coin that was ground down.

Note the missing rim on the above example on the reverse. If that is missing, it was removed.
