I doubt it. I have not heard of an S mintmark like that before. I imagine it is most likely just a die issue.

I don't know if it because I want to see it or what, but in the last pic I actually see a horizontal S inside that 9. Just in case, you may want to have the folks at Coneca take a look. It can't hurt. http://conecaonline.org/

Tim, Thanks. that is what it looks like to me. but of course I don't want to get my hopes up. its probably a die crack or whatever. but I guess I'll have to contact coneca thanks for your help

All everyone is seeing is a die chip inside the 9. These are very common. I personally don't see a good resemblance to an S that would be the proper size for a mintmark. Look at the size of the D. An S mintmark would be the same size.
