Can anyone tell me what this issue is with the obverse of this 1937-D 3-legged Buffalo nickel?

Also-whatever the damage or issue is, why wouldn't PCGS reference this issue in their grade?

Thanks,

Jeff

Are you talking about the rim? Is the coin loose in the holder?

If you are talking about the rim, I think it's the holder, not the coin.

Yes. Sorry. I was referring to the rim which looks damaged. I don't have the coin so I don't know if it's loose in the holder or not.

The coin us dot damaged or loose. What you are seeing is the "rubber" gasket that PCGS used squeezing over the rim of the coin. If you go looking for it you will see this overlap on a lot of PCGS slabbed coins.

Thanks all - It seems the more I learn, the more questions I have. I really thought the coin was damaged.
