A mid-Teens branch mint for $8.50? Um, yes, please. And may I have another?

That gouge on the reverse of the 1916-s is distracting and reduces it's value. Not one I would pick out, because I would probably want to replace it eventually.

Even though the quarter is slabbed, it's very easy to find this quarter for much less. I'm not sure the slab does anything for you with this coin. I'm not a slab guy, I prefer my coins raw, but that's my preference.

If you are happy, then you made a good deal. Truth be told, most of my good deals have come on this site and they are being sold by people you know and trust. Be patient and diligent and what you are looking for will come up eventually on this site.

I personally didn't find it to be a huge problem. I might replace it way down the road but for now, its not a bad coin at all. I wouldn't say it reduces the price of it that much. I had to fight with 2 other bidders to win that coin. I would say I could sell it for 10.00 right now easy. The MS65 quarter goes for about 14.00 according to numismedia and my RedBook. I mean, if I was a perfectionist, I would be even more broke than I am right now.

My take is I want to fill holes. If 10 years down the road I'm unhappy with a coin, I'll buy a better one and sell my current one. I understand that is not everyones opinion, but thats how I roll.

I can't speak to the quarter, as I am a mint set person on recent issues, but I'd would have gone for the penny at the price too. Nice pickup Casutherland.

I like the quarter. A pcgs slab for under $5 of a nice business strike. It may not be rare but for a few dollars it's a nice item to add to a collection.

Thanks guys, I had the same feeling about them. I guess not everyone agrees on that but I cant be unhappy with that cheap of stuff. The quarter I can hold on to and hopefully one day hand down to the grandkids etc and I feel like it will gain in price. It has some really serious detail on there that can easily rub off. Getting it slabbed IMO was a good idea.
