I loved the obverse of this coin. The detail is fantastic. However, the reverse is just the opposite. I have tentatively attributed this coin as Aurelian RIC 225, Siscia mint: OBV: IMP AVRELIANVS AVG, radiate & cuirassed bust right REV: IOVI CONSER, emperor standing right, holding short sceptre, receiving globe from Jupiter, standing left, holding long sceptre. Q in ex The problem is the letter in exergue is not exactly clear. To me it looks like a Q but the seller listed it as P. Also, how do I know this was minted in Siscia. There are other RIC numbers with the same identification, including the letters in exergue that are minted in such places as Serdica. As always, any help will be appreciated.

It looks like a Q but in Helvetica's RIC list only with P as mintmark. Very difficult about the mint, in several mints the same coin was minted. You may recognize a coin at his style typical for a mint but that's something for the specialist I think. Regards Ed

Quote: It looks like a Q but in Helvetica's RIC list only with P as mintmark. I haven't looked at Helvetica's yet for this coin, but I did look on acsearch.com and found several of these with a Q in exergue. RIC 225 on wildwinds is listed as "[P to Q] or [star-P to Q] or [P to Q star] in ex."

I received my coin today and took my own pics. I am very pleased with this coin. Especially the obverse, but the reverse is better than the images posted by the seller.

The portrait is fantastic, and the reverse is better too, despite being a more worn die.

Beautiful obverse, really like it.
I think '* Q' looks likely for the mintmark too having seen the new pictures.
I agree with your initial attribution of RIC V-1, 225 Siscia.

That is indeed a beautiful coin and great detail. The mintmark also looks like a "Q" to me as well.
