I have seen a couple sellers on ebay with the typical "unsearched rolls" with 1909VDB cents "on both ends" and they are absolutely BU. Over the summer and fall I have watched a ton of these sell. My question is, are these 1909VDBs fake or does this guy really have hundreds of BU 1909VDBs? I am just really skeptical one person could have sooo many BU 1909VDB.

There are a lot of them out there, being the first year of the Lincoln series many were saved.
Also not a terribly valuable coin, but anything is possible with today's counterfeiters

These are pretty common even in uncirculated condition. These sellers will buy 09 VDB's to put on the ends of their "unsearched" wheat rolls. They'll place them to where the reverse faces out and then they'll go on and on in the description about how "it could be the ultra rare 09-S VDB!"

yeah, the guy you are talking about offers "unsearched rolls" that invariably have the same bu 1909 vdb cent- it's the classic Miss Haversham scam- where some great uncle or so-and-so left him rolls upon rolls of unsearched coins. Logic would dictate, if the rolls were indeed unsearched, there'd be quite a few AU/ BU/ red coins inside of the roll- instead of a bunch a F-12 common date wheaties. My favorite tactic this guy employs is the III cent piece on one end and the gold 2.5 dollar coin on the other. If I had a roll that had a gold quarter eagle on one end, with gold being more expensive than platinum right now, I'm pretty sure I'd tear that roll apart to see if I had a whole roll of gold... but then, if I did that the roll wouldn't be unsearched, would it?

But didn't everyone's uncle roll up gold with pennies? The whole notion of it being unsearched is just whacked.
