I'm posting this thread a day early so it's alive in time for the early risers on the 1st of DECEMBER! Just a review how this works: We all post pictures of all the Capped Bust Half Dollars we own, of that year, on the day posted below. For example: we post pictures of all our 1807 CBHDs on the 1st of December, all our 1808 CBHDs on the 2nd, and so on. *** PLUS ***, starting on the 3rd of January, (after the Capped Bust Halfs), we will all post pictures of our Draped Bust Half Dollars! for an additional 5 DAYS! (I can't stand it!) Proposed schedule 32 Days of Capped Bust half dollars REVISITED: 1 Dec: 1807 2 Dec: 1808 3 Dec: 1809 4 Dec: 1810 5 Dec: 1811 6 Dec: 1812 7 Dec: 1813 8 Dec: 1814 9 Dec: 1815 (Maybe some CCFer has one now?) 10 Dec: 1817 11 Dec: 1818 12 Dec: 1819 13 Dec: 1820 14 Dec: 1821 15 Dec: 1822 16 Dec: 1823 17 Dec: 1824 18 Dec: 1825 19 Dec: 1826 20 Dec: 1827 21 Dec: 1828 22 Dec: 1829 23 Dec: 1830 24 Dec: 1831 25 Dec: Take a day off with your Family!26 Dec: 1832 27 Dec: 1833 28 Dec: 1834 29 Dec: 1835 30 Dec: 1836 31 Dec: 1837 1st of January 2012: 1838 and 1838 O (Happy New Year!)2 Jan: 1839 and 1839 O PLUS 3 Jan: Draped Bust Half Dollars, 1796, 1797, 1801, 1802 4 Jan: 1803 5 Jan: 1805 6 Jan: 1806 7 Jan: 1807 I think we'll have some serious posters of these gems this time! I have a feeling CCF has many more Capped, and Draped, Bust Half Dollar collectors now than we did last time! Let's make this the VERY BEST "Days of ..." thread EVER! I'm soooo excited about getting this thread started! Here's my 1807. I have limited coin knowledge but I think it is an Overton O-112 variety. Similar to Moe's coin but maybe the 50/20 is less visible or more worn?

FYI: (From Coinzip.com) Some diagnostics for 50 over 20/inverted 5 1807 O-112 R1: Obverse: Star 1 points between dentils. Widest date of 1807 CBHs, and a "0" that looks too large. Reverse: There is a centering dot in the field, not attached to the eagle's left shoulder. A die dot shows in field below lowest arrowhead. Arrowheads are ribbed, and recut. "I" is under the crossbar of "T" at right end. (Reverse is LDS of O-111.) Ok... I have one more O-112 that's even MORE worn:

These look great so far. I won't be able to join for a few more days, but can't wait to see more pix here. Maybe next year, I'll be able to get in sooner. :)

Quote: Some diagnostics for 50 over 20/inverted 5 1807 O-112 R1: Thanks Moe - I always appreciate your expertise. I'm asking Santa for the Overton book so I can start to learn about identifying varieties. I also asked for the Penny Whimsy book and my wife said - Who is this woman and why are you so interested in her book?

Quote: I'm asking Santa for the Overton book I have the 4th edition authored by Don Parsley (Al Overton's Son-in-Law). I have heard that the 3rd edition authored by Overton (with Parsley as editor) has less inaccuracies in it. Any one able to confirm this?

Here's my 1808 I think it's O-104 or O-104a.

Happy New Year It's 1809 O-105 . R.1 Error on edge. "R" in OR over "H" in HALF
