I'm looking for ideas of where to find RCM mint issued packaging basically. I like the mint issued coin capsules, but some of the ones I currently have are cracked or scratched/scuffed. I have contacted the RCM about buying capsules before, but didn't really get anywhere. I prefer the mint issued capsules over air-tites and lighthouse capsules, simply because I think the coins look and fit better in the originals. I'm specifically looking for capsules of 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, and 1oz capsule size for Platinum Proof coins. Also interested in empty Canada Platinum wildlife coin boxes that were issued for the sets and individual coins. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

That's odd. I would call the mint back. Last time I needed a small box, they sent me one free of charge. All I had to do was pay shipping.
If the first rep can't help you out, call back again. Maybe the next one can.

What size of capsules are you looking for? The usual 1c to $1 size or the larger sizes that $5 through to $20 silver coins were issued in?

Spent a good year to finding the exact sized RCM capsules for 38mm coins. The RCM capsules are thinner around the edges so other brands of 38mm capsules will not fit in RCM boxes... I was able to get a few from an RCM masters club rep but I felt like a big favor. No luck with RCM authorized dealers, any other brand capsules, or calling the RCM directly. Sometimes large enough coin shops will have a empty box and capsule bin you can sort though, but good luck finding one new.

Thank you to those who have replied. I think I'm not quite being specific enough, so let me try this again. I am looking for Royal Canadian Mint packaging and capsules for the Platinum wildlife coins. These coins were issued in 3 different styles. First was the four coin Proof set. These came housed in Red or green velvet/felt boxes. Inside each box was the polished cherry wood box that had the coins and certificate of authenticity. Later on in the Platinum wildlife series, specifically from 1995 to 1999, coins were issued in 4 coin sets, as well as single 1/10oz coins and 1/2oz coins. From what I have seen, the 1995 and 1996 1/10oz coins were housed in just a maroon colored clam-shell type box. See photo: The 1997-1999 1/10oz coins and 1/2oz coins were housed in polished cherry wood boxes with the green velvet/felt outer boxes. See Photo: Coins that were issued individually were housed in a larger capsule(WOLF COIN). Coins issued in the full 4 coin set were issued in a smaller capsule(DUCK COIN). See Photo: So, I'm looking for these specific mint issued capsules, as well as the cherry wood and green velvet/felt boxes if anyone has any or knows where some are. I have seen many platinum wildlife coins in graded cases over the past few years, so I know there has to be empty packaging and capsules somewhere. I also know that some of the 4 coin sets have been broken up and sold as individual coins. I have tried different types of capsules, but I prefer the original mint capsules over all else. Hopefully that makes a bit more sense as to what I am looking for. Thanks again for the help!

Are you buying raw coins and "package" them then sell at higher price?

my local coin shop/dealer takes many coins out their original packaging for display or re-packaging. He has a stack of old coin packaging. If you have a shop/dealer near you, may want to ask if they have old packaging.

Toronto1--No, I am not buying coins to package them and then sell at a higher price. I enjoy wildlife and find this series to be some of the best examples of realistic wildlife on coins. I plan to keep what I have. I just prefer to have original capsules and boxes as I find that more appealing to myself. I have seen coins without boxes sell for more than coins with boxes and vise versa. It all depends on who wants it. Only 3 of the 1/10oz coins issued individually in the green boxes, and two more were issued individually with the maroon box. If I were to collect all the 1/10oz coins, I wouldn't mind putting them each in a green box if I had them. Obviously that is not how they were issued since the remaining coins do not have certificates. So yeah, the packaging and capsules are just the way I like to house mine.
Fuzzy317--Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately for me, I have no dealers around here who deal in Canada Platinum or Platinum in general. The ones I have talked to about the Canada Platinum wildlife have no clue what it is and don't believe it is platinum because it does not have "platinum" stamped on the coins. Even when I have shown them the coins in the Charlton catalogs, those I have met around here just have no interest and don't care to help.

My 1999 millennium quarter set has 4 cracked capsules. Would be glad to find supplies for them.

Hi Canadian_Coins, just curious, did those capsules crack due to age? I've been collecting coins only for a few years, just wondering if I should take preemptive measures i.e. replacing the capsules every 10 years? TIA

If worst comes to worst, just buy acrylic screw capsules of the next size up from the coin, and insert a circumferential styrofoam cushion around the rim of the coin inside the capsule.
I have done that with an FDC proof British 1937 George V1 five sovereign crown sized gold coin. For me, that was a perfectly satisfactory solution to the problem.

C_C: I always enjoy looking at your pics. They are done nicely and show off the coin in a nice light. :) That picture isn't so nice... I hope you didn't have a bad day and take a hammer to those capsules... :p
Hopefully it's a good story.

C_C I think the standard capsules fit that case if I recall correctly. I dropped mine on the floor when I first got it and had to replace a bunch of them. Email me if you want a couple samples of different types so you know what to buy. Can't compare to one of my own because I turned it over to the kids so it's not here now but I'd be happy to mail you a couple so you can see.
