Poll Question
I have experimented with these on a couple occasions using white vinegar and had success revealing some better dated Buffalo nickels and brought out a lot of detail such as full horns etc. The coins looked altered and obviously different than non restored nickels.
I gave them away and the people were happy with getting them. I see they sell on ebay and fetch good money.
What are your opinions on these nickels that are restored.
I feel they are just a hair better than unidentifiable nickels myself and have very little value.

Poll Choices
They are ruined and worth less than a dateless buffalo
They suffice as a hole filler no matter what the date
They hold a 10% to 25% value of an unrestored nickel of the same date with same details
 Keys like 1913 S ty2 1916 DDO 1918/17 1921S 1926S still have considerable value but less
The collectors are starting to accept these as normal coins
They are a waste of time and money and completely worthless.
They are nice curiosities and thats about it
 other : post your opinion

It wouldn't let me pick two...Like they all work to fill holes, but super keys are still worth a little something...

I get roll of dateless and have fun nic-a-dating them. I have found the 13 s type 2, and almost have a folder complete from acid treating.

common ones from the late 20's and 30's are practically worthless, but everything else can usually get premium over what it would be worth dateless. I've been selling restored 1913d's and 14d's for about 8 dollars sometimes a little more or less. 14's I've been selling at $6, 16d between 1 and 2 dollars.

I said they are worth 10-25% but I actually think a lower percentage than that,
like 5-10%. I actually own a 21-s but I got it for a few bucks.

I've tried restoring dateless Buffalo nickels using the white vinegar method and got some good results. However in each example, the nickel just doesn't look right. I seriously doubt that i'll waste any more time attempting to restore any more coins. Rightly so, the values should be lower and could be hole fillers, but the way they look turns me off and I would always be looking to upgrade them.
