I have a Nikon Coolpix L22 camera and would like to get a tripod for it. I would like to be able to lay the coins "somewhat" flat to take pics. I have been looking at the ones with the flexible ball like legs and was hoping some members have used them and can pass on some advice. Thanks,

I worry a little bit about mini tripods. They basically lock you into one specific position, and I wonder if a flexible one will allow you to get and hold a good, precise 90-degree angle to the coin. If you want to do a mini, make it one of the solid ones, which should be easier to hold that angle.

OTOH, full-size tripods are available for less than $20 at Best Buy. I've used one with success.

I see what you are saying SuperDave, I also got to thinking if I wanted to point the camera stright down would the ball tripod weigh enough to hold it up. I will take a look at the one you mentioned.
