I saw on the usmint.gov website that in 2016, the last Presidential dollars will be minted for Nixon and Ford. So, I'm assuming they aren't going past President Ford with the Presidential dollar series. Is this a correct assumption? Why are they stopping with President Ford? Any particular reason?
Rest in Peace

According to the enabling legislation, a President has to be dead for two years before his coin is minted, or no coin. Carter isn't dead yet, so no coin for him. My understanding though was that Reagon could get a coin, but they might not want to have a blank there where Carter should be, so Ford might be the last one.

There is some ambiguity in the legislation; however, if Carter is still living in 2014, I would expect that congress would pass something more explicit to allow for a Reagan coin. Even if the mint already intends to issue the Reagan coin, they would not list him after Ford until Carter became ineligible (by being alive in 2014).
