I sent in one of my arches to PCGS for grading.. this PCGS submmission got a SP70, First Strike..so, I don't have to buy one to continue my perfect SP70 set collection..a side note for all who read this thread..always keep your eye out for any errors..since these "coins" are carefully produced(I have yet to see ANY with repair work/die polish lines), it's going to be one heck of a rare find, if one found...most likely, it will be sometype of struck-thru, which slipped through quality control...I DO have more than a few with clash remnants(you can see the outline of El Capitan on the Obverse, on My Yosemite, for example), but, it's so light, not worthy for slabbing..the presses are set to NOT clash, and, seem to run well, but, I have noticed ejection scratches on a lot of these, light, cutmarks & scuffs on upper rim, which look pretty nasty, when using loupe....they seemed to have solved that issue...i did GET A pcgs 2014 "AWARD", like a little blue star thing next to my set registry listing...that little blue star cost me a pretty penny! http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/pub...spx?s=121760CG Edited by ilikeikes

Now that the Sand Dunes coin has been scheduled, I wonder if the last will be Nov. I looked at the Mint production and Shenandoah has surpassed Smokey Mt and Arches is just about 100 less than Shenandoah. I am a little surprised at Arches being sold at that pace. I think this year between lower price and the discount, will be a sellout for all of them.

You may be right, angel. Plus the fact the pricing has held at $154.95 for more than a year now has helped the 5oz. garner acceptance and win a wider following since its debut three years ago. Meanwhile, back on the farm... New 2015 ATB line art designs to consider... (26) Homestead National Monument, Nebraska  (27) Kitsatchie National Forest, Louisiana  (28) Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina  (29) Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Delaware  (30) Saratoga National Historical Park, New York  These designs should make for some interesting bullion and uncirculated pucks next year. Not as strong as the 2014 set but better than expected, now that they've been picked. The Blue Ridge Parkway is probably the best of the group, IMO. |

I like all except the Saratoga one. @Bizy, I agree with you about Blue Ridge Parkway being the strongest design.

I think they could have used a better design on the Saratoga as well. Just think sometime next year we will be half way there on the full series. There's 56 coins total, right? So will they sell 6 coins on the last year instead of the normal 5?

I agree, the Saratoga design is unimaginately bland and is so similar to the 2011 Native American dollar reverse. Design could have been really strong with cannons or something representative of the War for Independence. Even the chosen design with some distinct background elements would improve it 100%. As it stands, the Saratoga quarter doesn't match the other ATBs and stands out like a sore thumb... The Mint blew it on this design. |

Just going to echo many others... crossing a pair of swords and calling it a park? There had to be something at the park to show on the coin. Kind of a sad statement to make for the coins going forward...

The mint should just survey the people who have bought pucks on which design they like best. Give them 5 options and then vote them best to worst and mint the highest average. Who better to decide the choice than the purchasers? I know this would probably never happen because it makes sense.
