I bought it at APMEX.com. It was a little pricey (something like $250 or $300), but previously I was buying a separate wooden display box for each year and the cost of those had gone up from $49.99 to $69.99 over the years. So I figured I would save a little money in the long run. |

I believed barryg shown/mentioned this a while back.
This nice box need a nice house to fit in.....
I will eventually have to get this box..... after I have a nice house.

It's so cool. I'd like to build one... might do 10 to a shelf though. Not sure how I'd fabricate the velvet drawer inserts but I think the wood part wouldn't be too bad.

You have to consider the weight of the box + the conent..... Barryg's box has 125 oz of silver alone....

Good point and I did think about that.... but I actually was thinking 280 ounces of silver once the set is complete. I counted 11 drawers in addition to the top which would accommodate the entire run. So maybe 25-30 pounds with box and metal total?
Still heavy!

Hello all! I have seen this topic listed quite a long time on the "Topic List" but never browsed through it before since the 5oz ATB's really don't appeal to me. Oh, I do think they are sharp and I'd like to have them, but the prices are out of my budget limit (for now). The reason I'm writing today is because a friend just mentioned that he ordered the new 2015 Homestead 5oz 'quarter' from some company, and told me he was expecting it in the main this week and that it only cost him about $105. I have gotten e-mails from the U.S. Mint and I know that they charge about $150 for each coin; so I'm very curious about two things. 1) Is it really possible to some how get them cheaper from other companies than it would cost buying directly from the Mint? Does the Mint sell them in bulk cheaper? 2) The U.S. Mint is RELEASING the new 2015 Homestead silver 'puck' today (3/5/2015). How did some of you get it 10 days ago? I saw that 'Barry' posted a picture of his on February 27 (the first post on page 153 of this topic). How does this happen? If my questions have been answered previously I apologize, but I wasn't going to try to read all of the past 154 pages. Oh, and thanks in advance for any replies! |

There are two versions, there is the bullion version which sells for spot +, same as the ASEs. And there is the P puck as it is called. The satin finish presentation version sold by the Mint.

Thanks for the quick answer, but I'm still a little confused. So the ones out before today (3/5/15) are just bullion and DO NOT have the Philadelphia mint mark on the front? If I was collecting ATB's, would the bullion types not be 'official' coins? What I mean is, are they made for numismatics or for silver stackers? Will they ever be worth more than 'Spot Value'? Also, are they made in the U.S. or are they foreign (Chinese?) made? |

No, they are still made of silver, they are still made by the Mint, but they are like the difference between regular bullion American Silver Eagles and the UNC Silver Eagles with the W mint mark. The bullion versions are still collectible by some, but they are made in bulk, packaged in tubes and sold through the Mint's dealer network and can only be bought through a secondary dealer. Here is the quote from the M Bullion's product page ..... Quote:
Please be aware that these coins ship in the exact condition as we receive them from the US Mint and it is normal for America the Beautiful coins to ship with minor blemishes, including scratch marks and general wear. We do not cherry-pick any coins for grading or purchase any second-hand material, so you can be sure the coins you receive will be in the exact condition that we receive them and ship in mint-sealed tubes of 10 or monster boxes of 100. The P pucks are made and handled one at a time, are satin finish and individually packaged. Anyone catch the change in price for the Everglade P puck? From the Mint's email about the Homestead, the Everglade price drop to $149.95, corresponding with the 2015 P puck. Now that lead me to wonder if the same price drop/adjustment happen/happened to the 2014-W and -S ASE? |

I feel like this has been announced for some time but I can't recall for sure. Either way I wish they'd drop it further! Silver isn't exactly having its best year. |
