FYI on the Kisatchie turkey bullion numbers, Mint has sold up to 40,100 coins as of yesterday. If they stick to the max of 65,000 between the two options then right now the uncirculated P-puck can be no more than 24,900 total IF you believe they will follow their own marketing hype. Could mean that the uncirculated coin is the sleeper, so keep an eye on on the weekly numbers if you plan on buying this issue. First week's sales are strong at 15,622.

You're welcome, SA4H! That's what makes this hobby so enjoyable, buying what you can "reasonably" afford vs. what is appealing to you. Here's a tidbit that may excite or depress the lot of you: with the next release of either the bullion Blue Ridge Parkway at the end of June or the uncirculated puck in early July, the series will be at it's exact midpoint of 28 releases?
Did you ever think you'd stick with the series halfway to completion? It's been a wild ride for the last 4-1/2 years, that's for sure, and I salute you guys and gals who have stuck it out from the very beginning through the thin years (2011-13) and now everyone and their mother-in-law has discovered the pucks. Looking forward to seeing what half the set looks like displayed together.

If they keep producing bullion Turkey pucks, the Turkey P puck could be the winner here. My new Turkey P puck shipped yesterday.
I will be happy after we are past the half way point :) At least we still aren't paying $280 per puck.

So what is everybody's favorite puck to this point? Is it a bullion puck or P puck? Do you like it due to the design or do you like due to its value? I have a slabbed PCGS 70 Hawaiian P puck that I am glad I bought before it was determined to be a key puck.
Just for pure design, it is a hard choice, I guess I like the Olympic design for overall composition. I haven't held the new Turkey puck yet, but it sure looks good too.

Up until now, I am in the "incomplete" category of the series (even when combining both -P and bullion, ie: just need one for each designs and not two). It's getting hard to to catch up on this series once you are behind (same thing happened with the First Spouse 1/2 oz gold series).

Kisatchie bullion is now sold out at the Mint and stands at 42,000, highest bullion total since Chickasaw of 2011. Means that the uncirculated puck can be no more than 23,000 total sold, and there are only 7,378 coins left in inventory if they adhere to the stated mintage limits of 65,000 between the two options. Additionally the next bullion release is scheduled for Monday, June 22nd, Blue Ridge Parkway.

Looks probable that the Kisatchie P puck will sell out with that amount (7,378) of inventory left.

Really surprised the mint hasn't lowered the price of uncirculated pucks. I like the design of Kisatchie once I received it but I'm really excited about upcoming Blue Ridge Parkway and simplistic design of Saratoga. Not into buying the bullion shiny pucks but reading this thread has opened my eyes to how collectors view them and their benefits.

In the last 2.5 years the Perry P puck has the lowest mintage at 17.7 K. Even the Homestead will be of a higher mintage.

Mintages aren't what drives secondary pricing on the ATB pucks necessarily. The high and low mintages are so narrow that they would ALL be considered scarce for type. It's not like a circulating coin at 5M and it's key counterpart at 500K with a greater dedicated collector base. The order of magnitude is quite different and the ATB pucks are still a niche collectible to a small subset of the collecting fraternity. For example, the 2013 ATB with good premiums is Mount Rushmore, highest mintage of the year in either format. The design plays a fairly vital part in how the coin is received in the secondary market. Great Basin, Arches and Great Smoky Mtns have appreciated even though the mintages are high relative to type. Turkey puck is another well designed coin, seems to appeal to a greater spectrum of the public than any release before it. Bullion might be high at 42K there might just greater demand than the final bullion numbers indicate, but the P is an obvious must buy now if the mintage is capped at 23K. Edited by Bizybackson

This series, both bullion and P, has been crazy to follow / partake of. Vast swings (well, a huge 4-year drop, really) in spot price of silver have made some pucks wildly hot. Some are still relative unknowns. Design quality and park recognition have had somewhat of an affect on puck popularity. I'm positive the P-pucks have not been a good investment overall (not unlike many products direct from the U.S. Mint), but that's not my focus on these. I'm in for completing the P set. Maybe in late 2021 the price of silver will skyrocket from 16 to 55 and then I can sell my set to pay for a nice long cruise. To try to answer a question from pages past: my favorites to date are: Acadia, El Yunque, Mt. Rushmore, Ft. McHenry, Hawai'i Volcanoes, Homestead. Sorry, very tough to narrow it down.  |
