From another forum...looks like there are a bunch of subscriptions after all:

Quote:
The 2015 Saratoga National Historical Park 5 oz. Uncirculated Coin also had a strong debut yesterday; according to the Mint, that issue sold 15,904 pieces on its first day of availability. As the Saratoga 5 oz. Uncirculated coin's mintage limit now stands at 20,000, less than 4,096 pieces of the issue remain available for purchase.

That 15,904 sales figure would include subscriptions. Actual purchases made at noon on the 3rd are unknown.

Max of 20k is still not bad at all and most likely will be a bit below that...

If they lowered the price of the P puck and still gave discounts for subscriptions, even a not so attractive puck such as the Saratoga would sell out quickily.

Alot of people do like saratoga. However there seems to be no in between, you either like it or you dont. It's strange to have such a polarizing design

My new P puck is on it's way, I will let you know if it looks any better in hand :) I just think they could have put forth a better effort on the design. We shall see.....

The mints website lists the max at 30K. Was that in case the bullion version didn't sell so well?

Just the opposite...the bullion sold well at 45k in a day or so....so it limits the Saratoga P to the rest (20K)

I think they start out with 65K total for both Bullion and P pucks combined. They start with 35K bullion and if they sell out, then they will consider taking 10K more for bullion and then reduce the P pucks to a max of 20K.

Yup, 65k is the max for both and I would assume the decision to go 45k was predetermined in this case since they sold out a week ago and are all being shipped to the AP's now.

It doesn't seem like they would have the time to strike, box (roll) and ship 10k more coins in 5 business days.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the max went to 75k (total) or more for next year since the bullion sells so well
