I guess it is safe to assume that the pucks in general are picking up in popularity. The word is getting out. The bigger platform for the designs and price of silver are probably big factors as well.

First post, but I've been lurking for a few weeks . . . Demand was definitely high when they were selling out in a day or two last year (I thought they were supposed to mint to demand?), so last year's mintage was too low. But 75,000 in the first week seems too high and may cause people to lose interest.

75K is more than plenty for the first release of the year. They might hold back the remaining for the rest of the year and mint to demand if there are interest in additional sales. At this point, 5 ASEs are cheaper than one Shawnee puck by a couple of bucks, $93.30 for five ASEs vs. $99.60 for the puck, to use Provident's numbers. The ASEs are easier to stack than the pucks anyway. With that kind of added premium, silver stackers will go back to the 1oz., so interest in the puck should wane accordingly as a bullion purchase. I doubt there would many more sales this month or next by the APs until the Cumberland pucks drops or the APs decided to cut the premium and significantly at that.

Maybe...but there are still a couple of months to go before the next issue so I can definitely see this one going over 100k Time will tell.... Storage...kind of a wash. 50 ounces of silver in a round 2 1/4x 3 1/4 inch tube is pretty compact as are the rolls of 20 ASE's |

Yes but with those numbers currently running, Fox, for 50 oz of puck you could get 53-1/2 ASEs. For stackers it's all about how low a premium they can get physical silver at, not what's stamped on or kind of coin it is. So I would say Shawnee is saturated/pretty much done unless it's priced a few dollars LOWER than 5 ASEs. This is a different market than 5 years ago, not everything the Mint makes nowadays will sell, thanks to the influence of the deep pocketed big marketers, the legions of flippers looking to make a quick buck, and the myriad product lines of so many different coins per year. True hobbyists are just a tiny fraction, and more are abandoning modern mint products and going back to the tried and true classics as the Mint consistently ignores its most loyal customer base.

I will say that setting 30k as a limit for the P puck was just not smart...they will sit forever like Homestead at 30k which is only a week away from being on sale for a YEAR |

The only advantage of ASEs (assuming they aren't counterfeit) for the general public is the guaranteed purity content by the government. With generic silver bars and rounds, they can all be stamped .999 fine, unless you're a metallurgist or have a really good testing kit, who's to say what's stamped on the face is correct? That's why there are 44 mil of those babies sold every year by the government. For a $1 extra an ounce over the cost of generic, takes the guesswork out and adds peace of mind.

^ You also have to consider counterfeits. I have not seen a single ATB bullion counterfeit yet, but there are plenty ASE ones. Hence, buying some round with a stamp on it does not mean it's genuine. And anyone can print certificates at home nowadays... |

The US Mint has reported sales of the Shawnee bullion of 97.5k as of Feb22.
This makes it the fourth most sold puck thus far.
