The sellouts just keep rolling along... El Yunque (NQ0) had been on backorder for a couple of days now, went to sold out yesterday. Last week's Mint sales report showed 17,215 sold, and both this coin and the Chaco showed accelerated sales because of the sellouts of the other three. Chaco Culture is the only coin available now, and let's hope it sells out in another couple of weeks also. The Mint probably capped the total at 18,000. It would hopefully pave the way for the 2013s and with silver trending between $28.75 and $29.25 of late, hopefully there would be a pricing adjustment from $245 to a more reasonable $220.

I'm with you Bizy....time to move onto the 2013s and adjust the price down. I don't think sales will be very active if they continue with their initial stated pricing. I think we are looking at even lower mintage populations for this coming year.

Yes and odd that El Yunque disappeared off the site as well. Denali and acadia were still out there as sold out. I have read that the price of silver is kept low due to JPMorgan and all their paper shorts. The article said physical silver is in short supply. I haven't tried my local shop lately (no $) and wonder how their supply of junk is there. It has been 3percent over spot the past 2 yrs

@ angel: I don't know about about junk silver.... I went to a local coin show on Sunday. There were about 50 dealers there and they all asked for Spot + $5 for ASE (or any bullion coins), which is around $34, some asked $35, one even asked $38. Generic bar/round were around $33 (that's Spot + $4); Canada Wilflife coins are in the $38+ range, same as Perth Mint Koala/Kook. Circulated Morgan are around $33/ea too. Overall, not a lot of bullions available/change hand. Assumption of physical silver is in short supply may be true. I remembered late last year (Nov/Dec), I went to a different coin show, the premium was quite cheaper (Spot + $3 for ASE/Perth Minth/Canada SML etc; generic was SPOT +$1); I even found a seller selling Libertad at Spot + $2. We usually see silver slump in March & the summer..... let see how this year will come out. |

Just remember that supply doesn't tell the whole story for silver. Anytime we get a drop like this after sitting at higher levels for a while at least some product (if not a lot) if held back by dealers who dont want to sell for less than they paid. Now if these prices hold for a long time theyll more than likely give in and sell at some point but I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if they were waiting it out for the moment

Yes, both of you are correct. I did, however, read the story on JPMorgan and their having a lot of short paper for silver. I will check out my local shop. They, in the past, posted their price for junk silver as 3 percent over spot, but that pricing is no longer online. So I will have to go in and check, just curious.

Well, after looking at the mintages, I went and ordered Hawaii MS-69 DMPL FS PCGS Edmund Moy then Denali MS-69 PL FS PCGS Edmund Moy, hopefully the low mintages will make those 2 appreciate in value over the years I was able to order Chaco culture this AM on the Mints site
my only other 2 are a chickasaw puck and a 1st strike ms69 glacier.
gonna keep my fingers crossed on those 2 with the 20k mintages

Now only Chaco Culture remains available for sale.
Based on the figures from the latest available sales report published on Coin Update, the El Yunque coin had reached sales of 17,314 units. The previous designs had sold out when sales had reached around 15,000 units. The remaining Chaco Culture coin currently has sales of 15,600. It may be the case that this coin had total production similar to the El Yunque design.
Also on Monday, the 2012-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle sold out

APMEX currently having a 24hrs sale promotion that is offering the El Yunque bullion version at around $170/coin if anyone interested....

This took place with some 2010P and 2011P coins...mint versions, where the vapor coating (for a lack of a better term) was lighter on some from the mint. |
