The mint would have been probably better off just doing a price adjustment instead of paying postage and the time wasted returning and reordering

The other thing that hasn't been said so far about returns - is you have to do it within a week of receiving the coins. You can't hold on tot he coins and then send them in later for return or credit.

angel2004 if I got bad coins and could return them and get good coins - why would I want a price adjustment - when what I want is good coins?

The price adjustment would be good for someone whose clearly just returning and reordering because of a price drop especially for something like this where there is a decent price move. Itd save everyone time and money

Thanks to all for your help. I talked to customer service at the mint. They were very helpful. Coin is back in the box and going to the post office today. Since it came damaged they pay to send it back. She said it was good I opened it right away. She said some leave them in the sealed box and once 7 days passes they can't be returned. I know guys leave them in the shipping box to get first strike/early release stickers at the TPG's but how many of those coins are damaged and no longer able to be returned.

P.S. Fort McHenry bullion now available for preorder at APMEX. Ship date 9/05. Note that it's $134 and change. Gap is narrowing for the uncirculated pucks @ $154.95. Price might not make it 8/29 and PMs traditionally rise after the summer hiatus. Last year it wasn't until the end of September when the prices got adjusted $25 upward.

Just dropped the bad one off at the post office. It's $9.20 to ship and insure but that all gets refunded. They said it would arrive by Saturday. Wow, they are fast.

I did buy another GB last night. Now I'm thinking of getting one of each of the others since silver is over $23 and they are still $155. It would cost almost as much to buy the bullion ones, pay the credit card fee and have them shipped.

I wonder if the 154.95 price will hold out until month end? Hopefully it will.

Well...it would be nice of the mint to hold the line and see what is really going to happen with silver. They seemed to wait until it was obvious it was going down before lowering prices. Sometimes they lowered prices right after releasing a silver set (read silver proof), and alienating a slew of collectors - I was one who was on the wrong side of that one and most every other drop this year. I'd like them to hold off this time around and see if silver is going to go higher and stay or if this is just a bounce....

And there have been times where sales have been suspended during fluctuations. And the weird thing they did last dec. (I think) when they raised the price when silver spot really didn't warrant
it.
