Does anyone know of a way to check ANACS certification numbers? Maybe a list for ANA members, or is it too costly to keep a page updated and accessible to the coin buyers/sellers because of the inexpensive cost of an ANACS slab?

It would be nice to have some way to verify the coins online.

ANACS has "numbers" on the front of the old white slabs and on the back of their (most recent, gold) slabs, not sure if you can track them though.

The 1888 Morgan is mine, the 1807 Large Cent is not, merely used for illustration purposes and is given credit to it whereabouts found.

NOTE: The ANACS 1807 Cent is not mine, it was obtained at;

That is the issue, there is no way to verify the certificate number or serial number assigined to each coin. ANACS must track them internally only, they need a Certification Authenticing area on their website, like NGC & PCGS both have.

I'm picking up what you are throwing down. I don't think that could be possible with the multitudes of ANACS slabs out there in collectors hands. Perhaps if they had someone on the inside who would take on this project and get the submittal information from the holders of these slabs. Pretty big tasking all around. They are still in seven digit S/N numbers, less than 10 million, does not seem right though does it? I don't think that they started off with S/N 1 either.

I sent ANACS an email asking the same about not having a database...just to rattle the cage!

I wonder how long it will be until one of the TPG start putting in RFID chips into slabs? Great for scanning info quick, bad for people being able to find your hidden coins. Big Brother and all.

Just got my reply from ANACS on this subject;

Sorry John,

This is not available to customers directly at this time. But I can look anything up for you. Please let me know if I can help.

Maybe if enough people start asking if a given serial number is valid for the coin they are looking at, ANACS will see the value of making that information easily available on the web, instead of taking up an employee's time to research it for us.

So lets all search ebay for ANACS stabs.

then email them all the number for them to look up. make sure you let them know your interested in purchasing the coin only if its authentic.

I think they would really change there mind after a couple days of that.
