Is this a real clip or a hack job? Does a clipped portion always go straight through the planchet or can it be angled off like this one?

If it were a real incomplete planchet the zinc would not be showing. The plating would have covered it. Looks like someone used it for sidewalk chalk?

I was going to ask about the zinc, so that makes perfect sense. Guess I still don't have a clip. Thanks for the lesson!

Here is an example of a faked clip:
1990-LMC---Clip-Or-PMD
You can see the unplated edge of the coin and you can see where the coin was held with a pair of pliers. The devices next to the clip should also be weak. But the key is the unplated edge.
