http://mintnewsblog.com/2011/12/201...ul-quarters/Wow, I really like the Puerto Rico and Acadia ones! PR is going to look AWESOME in a 5-oz puck; I may buy more than one of those. Acadia is pleasant and so different...has there ever been a lighthouse on a U.S. coin? Not sure about the Hawaii one, an erupting volcano doesn't seem to translate well to the static images on coins. And can someone tell me when Hawai'i officially got an apostrophe between the two i's? Denali is solid. Not much different from the other "majestic animal in front of a majestic mountain" coins, but still very nice. The New Mexico Chaco Culture is my concern...so much detail on the coin. I'm torn on this design, but I think I like it. Except for Denali these designs are a departure from the previous ATB designs, and to me that's a great thing for the series. I really was stoked when I saw these 2012 designs! Makes me want to buy the bullion and UNC versions.

I really like the Maine quarter. The others look good as well, but the Maine is a beauty. I am glad to see that the ATB program is keeping to a higher standard.

Puerto Rico's my favorite, only because I really like birds (especially parrots) a lot!

Come on, not another goat. Is that the only animal in the mountains. I guess it could be a subset for someone. American coins with mountain goats released in the last few years. The others are pretty nice. Not sure how the volcano will look on a coin but at least it's different.

Does it matter to you that it's actually a sheep and not a goat? :)
Initially I thought it was a Bighorn Sheep, but according to the description, it's a Dall Sheep.

I really like the images for the 2012 ATB coins. It makes me glad that I have decided to collect the 5 oz versions, even though I have no clue where I am going to store them all by the time this series is done. I really like the Puerto Rico coin. I went there on vacation two years ago. You could hear the Coqui frogs every night but even though I took a day trip to El Yunque I never saw or even heard about their parrot for the entire week I was there. I guess that's why they call it endagered.

Sheep, goat, ram, ewe, they all look the same standing in front of a mountain. I did not mean to offend any animals in the previous post. I know how sensitive sheep can be and it was not my intent to get anyones goat.

I think they picked the best from the designs that were up for consideration.

Blue, ewe should be more sensitive to the feelings of the sheep/goat contingent. What did they ever do to deserve your shear disdain?
I LOVE the PR! That has to be one of the best coins ever. All of them look awesome, though the volcano may or may not look right. IMO the ATBs have been consistently good. Even the Hot Springs is a nice coin.

I liked the State Quarters when they first came out. Then after some time some of the designs seemed kinda boring. When they anounced the ATB Quarters, I was kinda like, "Really, this all over again?" But I absolutley love the ATB Quarters designs. I think making it only national parks really gives designers a bit more of a box to work in, and the result is another great looking years worth of quarters!
