My second posting from my collection--a 1797 Great Britain 2-Pence acquired last year. I do not see these often and I thought the state of preservation was quite nice. I feel the coin merits a AU50. I would like to ask The Forum for their opinions....
That's a beautiful specimen. I'm still trying to learn more about grading but I would give this an AU-55+. Very little wear on high points. Look at the lines in the shield, her fingers & toes clearly defined. This could be due to the raised rim protecting the rest of the coin & I could be totally wrong. I will wait for the experts and hope they explain why they give what grade they offer.
