I check this forum before going to work and then after arriving home and see so much activity. The variety of coins being posted both old and new is amazing. As a collector of the 'oldies' seeing two 1795's in one day is just unbelievable!

Here's my #3 favorite - an 1801 Large Cent

Moe--how do you know its a 1916?

Normally I let our 1916 Standing Liberty quarter "Whisperer", Johnny 54321 ("Countdown") quantify how he determines the year 1916 from the 1917, but last time this topic came up I saved his explanatory slides and will post them for us all to review. (One of the very biggest give-aways is the lack of shield rivets on the 1916. The 1917 has VERY pronounced rivets all the way down to FR grade).

What was this coin graded? It looks like it is in a PCGS holder.

By far the coolest coin posted so far is MOE's! Not that I'm biased or anything... hehe, great coins everyone! Ahh, your seated half is a beauty DoubleEagle!

I had a hard time coming up with number 3. I went with the 1908 Saint Gaudens, the first big gold coin I've ever held...it was such a thrill to purchase!

Johnny! Sweet purchase! This was going to be my #1. I absolutely love my 1908 (no motto) St Gaudens. But now... I may have to choose another..

Or not...
