Machine stamping usually indicates a commercial purpose, but these letters are individually hand stamped; so probably someone's initials.

On an other forum I got the message that it might be a "Love token". Maybe for a soldier that leave home for a long time. Sometimes they were given a coin with the initials of a loved one...

"Love tokens" usually are more ornate rather than cold and prefunctary. This seems very commercial so I suspect alganbagerap is right with the "advertising" token or check token type use.

Strange; I would have thought a commercial application would have used a single punch with the three letters and full stops, rather than individual ones, for any quantity?
A mystery.
Mike.
