I also saw your posting for the 1881-CC and presume this is from the same seller. This offering also appears suspicious to me (read counterfeit). The coin shows a die-fill on the reverse (ED of United) and if genuine I'd like to have it in my collection. I am not familiar with this variety in the 99-S and can't check VamWorld from my work location. You can go to the VamWorld.com site and look for yourself. Go to Morgan dollars and click on the 1899-S radio button for a complete listing of known varieties. You can do the same for the 81-CC taking note of the mintmark (size and location) and comparing it with known and valid varities. Good luck.

My opinion is the same on this one as the 1881-CC that you posted. Details seem to be cruder compared to what I would expect from a genuine example.

I'm sorry, my friend. This not does not appear to be (to me anyway) to be a genuine Morgan dollar.

If I was advising you, I would say "avoid buying this".

but
again:

to the Forum! I think you will be a valuable asset to us!

I agree, definitely fake. The details are definitely a bit rough, and the die fill seems way too suspicious. Sorry, bud!

Several of the Morgans you've posted are immediately evidenced as fakes simply by the presentation of the rim.

They look like they were distressed on purpose. They also resemble tin cap covers.

Moreover, I'd be surprised if the silver content in them was over 80% (at best) -- probably more like 60-65%.

So, the unwary, maybe dubious about authenticity but thinking, "what the heck:silver" are probably getting 10$ of silver melted.
