The 1839 has stars on the obverse, reeded edge, designer's name omitted; no stars on the reverse, eagle orientation horizontal. Only 300 were struck. Restrikes were reproduced between 1850 and 1870 and "almost all were struck from a cracked reverse die." ( Red Book)

A VF 20 was worth $19,800 and a Proof 60 was worth $47,500 in January 2011.

This thing is so far off the mark, it's probably inappropriate to call it a fake. At least real fakes attempt to imitate the real thing; this one couldn't be farther from the truth.

That is a fantasy piece, I have some that are silver 1 ounce rounds and a couple that are silver plated medallions.

Defintely NOT an original Gobrecht dollar pattern.

What kind of Auction is it ebay? Is it listed as the real thing? Not a bad buy for a couple of dollars, I picked up one at the last coin show for $2.00 just becuase it's cool looking.

If it's being offered as a real Seated Liberty dollar or pattern, then the Secret Service would love to know about the auction!
