A play toy I've been mulling over. It's starting to feel right. Personal stats is the next big piece. Feel free to log in and test. I'll truncate the grades table ever so often through testing. Lincoln Grading - A Pilot Database

This is a grading quiz? Awesome idea, my favorite part of CCF, besides all the great comeradre, is the grading vs. TPG members post. Are the coins TPG'ed in your database?

I've tried the passwords and uses on the page, nothing gets me in? Looks like a very cool and useful application for teaching.

username: guest1 and password: guest should get you in. The cents loaded are just some that I happen to have pictures of. No TPG's loaded.

Thanks! I need some more modulation but now that I know what I want and how to show it should be a snap.

Quote: username: guest1 and password: guest should get you in. I was typing quest1 and quest from the page (typo or font choice) Oops got it working now. I graded one LWC where I backed out after hitting the grade button without actually changing any values in grade or anything else, it counted the grade as 0 and lowered the average score to 42.333 it was the 1941-P, might make a cancel button or if nothing is selected and grade is hit it won't include the 0 setting. Really like this concept, would be great if it could be used as a teaching aid/testing device against a set of TPG'd coins with the results being posted say on a separate page so one could see how good they rate against the TPG's. The photos seem well exposed with plenty of detail for the technical grade, but the luster is always going to be hard to capture, as the viewer can't roll the coin around against a fixed light source in a static photo - (yet)! I like the design as it is simple and intuitive. Great job!

Thank you for the test and comments. I'll trap for a "null" submission at insert AND add the cancel button (because the back button is giving me fits). I figured the log in was a font problem. I'll change it. Tech note: I've got this down to one module. I love a good robot A set of professionally graded cents in all year/mints in all grades would be awesome but unlikely due to lower grades of common dates not being slabbed. When I get the personal stats done (hopefully this weekend) users will be able to see how well they grade compared to the common grade (everyone else) for each range of grades. For example I'm pretty good with MS60-65 range but not as good in the VF-XF range. The engine should reflect that. I'm planning on 3 user levels: Novice, Competent, and Expert with the engine promoting users automatically. The overall grade will be weighted based on these levels so that if a novice over or under grades a cent it does not hold as much weight and maybe none if it's way out of range. Also this will allow users to see how well they do compared to others at their level. Example: I might be a novice but I consistently grade expert. After so many grades the engine promotes me. I'm sending you a PM. Thanks again.

View Statistics added Score based on the average grade of those cents graded by you. Zero being the optimum score.

Very cool concept. I was a bit lost the first 30 seconds until I realized that there is no splash screen and that you have to select something to get going. I think Khan Academy's practice method would lend itself well to learning how to grade coins. Link for reference: http://www.khanacademy.org/exercisedashboard

Very cool learning tool. I graded a coin and once I was taken back to the main screen, I had to play around with the drop downs to get some results to appear.
