This coin has a release date now. 3/5/2012. I know a lot of people don't seem to like the design, but I do like it. And I am not a commemorative coin kinda guy. I will be getting this one.

I LOVE the designs (Maryland native with roots to the area of the battle)....I'm counting down to release and will be buying every available option

I've been thinking about these coins and while I certainly love them....I don't quite understand why they wouldn't wait til the true bicentennial of the Battle of Fort McHenry (and writing of Star Spangled Banner)...which would be 2014. It would have been awesome to have done a series of commems for the War of 1812--- marking bicentennial events for each of the years of the war----1812, 1813, and rounding out with 1814. Of course, this is just wishful thiking
