I am a nut for cameo coins, and have many examples showing the true beauty of these coins. Having the great contrast from the field to the devices these coins really show spectacular eye appeal. So why not get a thread of cameos? Post a photo or two of some of your favorite cameo coins for all of us to enjoy.

And let us not forget there are some beautiful "circulated cameos" out there too.

So who else has some great cameo coins?

Pardon my ignorance, but is this what you mean by a cameo?

I have quite a few, but probably my favorite is the 1000 Kronur 1974 Iceland proof, which is my avatar as well:

And then there's also my 5 Pounds 2000 Jersey Proof:

SuperDave,

A big word "Amidoinitrite" is not in my dictionary, can you elaborate the definition?

Barryg,

A cameo (to me) is when the field of the coin has a uniform contrasting color from the features. As with your Kennedy half the lettering and portrait of JFK stands as a frosted color over the black of the field. Virtually all modern proofs are cameo, not so much as with some older ones.

I just picked up a really nice 1956 NGC PF67 * Cameo Washington that I can practice on. (This image is my coin from the NGC website.)

I'll bet you could shave in that coin, Canadian-Banknotes.

Caution, though: 1881-S is among the most common in that wonderful condition, so be careful about the price you choose to pay. Another will be along eventually.
