Hey guys..

My name is Joe, I am new to the bullion game. What can I say, I am hooked? LOL I am young, 22yrs old and have always found it difficult to save my cash. A few weeks ago, I was turned onto investing & collecting silver and from then on, I have been doing massive amounts of research and reading all I can.

I have about 22oz of 90% coins so far. I love the coins and all (especially the coins from the 1900 - 1930 era) but I want to accumulate some bullion. APMEX has appealed to me because of there low minimum order compared to other sites I have looked at.

How have your experiences been from buying from APMEX? How long are the shipping times? Do they ship discretely and properly?

I know all of this is answered in the FAQ on there site, but I would much rather have first hand reviews from fellow collectors because I have heard of mixed reviews..

I really want to buy some of the year of the dragon bars.. Since I am new to this, I don't want to miss out on them and have them sell out (if that is even possible?) Id like to pull the trigger now, but I would only be able to buy about 5oz. I would like to purchase about 10 - 15oz of dragons & ASE's. Do the dragons have potential to sell out? Excuse my noobness, I am new to this

Thank yall!

They are a fine company to do business with. I have used them for more than a few years. Though I buy at large volume amounts so premiums are not that large. They ship promptly and except for probably your post man no one can tell what is being shipped.

Don't get caught up on buying high price bullion unless you are in love with it or are a collector. Bullion is all about the most PM for the least amount of money. Don't get caught up in buying just one type or design betting on getting a better increase in the future if you are looking for bullion.

Remember it is simple the most silver for the least amount of money.

Don't limit yourself to one supplier - shop around looking for the best price.

The one thing I feel you are doing 100% right is starting to buy at a young age and should continue to buy a little each year. I started at around the same age.

I think just saying they have high prices is misleading. You will find that they offer many bargains throughout the year. For example just awhile ago they offered the lowest premium I have ever seen over spot for Silver Maples with no order limit and the price was the same if paying by check or credit card. This was the lowest possible price for silver maples that even local dealers could offer let alone private sellers.

They have offered other great deals through out the year.

Now for the normal pricing it is subjective to what you can find though they are far from over priced on most bullion. Even when I do find it cheaper it is most of the times not in stock.

Certainly price is effected by the amount and type of payment you are making along with shipping cost. Some places will offer higher cost on the bullion with free shipping which make it pretty even.

The point is to shop, don't be in a hurry and if you can have the money when the sales hit it is very hard to beat them. But over high priced for bullion - well I don't think I would call it that.

high premiums and shipping fees means I only buy in bulk and pay via check or bank wire. Do have the occasional sweet deal and a very wide selection (but I would venture to say that 90% of their world bullion is very Very overpriced). Otherwise, super fast shipping, helpful and friendly staff, positive experiences so far

I agree with the above posters an would add great selection. Yes there are some items you can get from other sources for a better price but overall they do a good job and offer a fair product at their posted prices.

Hello, Jenger, and welcome to the CCF web site!

I have made several purchases from APMEX and they are a pretty good place to buy. One of their real strengths is the variety of US 90% silver coins they sell. They have multiple grades as well, so if you prefer a particular grade, they are likely to have it. I just got some gorgeous US proof 90% silver Statehood Quarters from them at a price that was below their Washington circulated quarters. The mirror-like finish on the statehood proofs is dazzling and I plan to get some more of those while prices are low.

APMEX charges a little more for shipping than some other on-line vendors, so they aren't the best place from which to buy just a few coins. It's a lot more painful to spend $25 on shipping a $100 order than it is on a $5000 order, for example. Yes, it is the same $25 but the shipping cost per oz. is way high on small orders.

Other on-line vendors that have done well for me are Provident Metals and SilverTowne. Provident has cheaper shipping than APMEX, although both ship discreetly and in strong cardboard boxes with the coins, bars, or rounds inside plastic tubes wrapped in bubble wrap to protect them in shipping.

I like the SilverTowne "donkey bars" in the 5-oz. size. They are very well made, a solid 5 oz. of .999 silver, look great, are protected by a nice plastic wrapper, have individual serial numbers, and have a cool motif of a miner and his mule. They are often attractively priced as well. Free shipping on Internet orders is also offered sometimes.

Put an order for APMEX together between friends. Order went out Sunday night, paid Monday morning, and got the tracking number to the shipment Tuesday Morning. Estimated delivery date to Canada is before the end of the week. The service ain't bad at all
