A couple of months ago, I purchased a coin from an old Russian guy at a local show. I'm finally getting photos taken and uploading them.

The seller seemed to be having a rough show. I'm not exactly saying it was a mercy purchase, but I was completely unprepared and have no idea if I paid a fair price ($15).

The flip contained a slip of paper with the following description:
quote:
Northen [sic] Greece. Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. 359-336 BC. AE 16 mm. Macedonian mint. Head of Apollo right / Naked youth on horce pracing r. Sear, Greek Coins, #6696. Black patina.

I would have paid $15 or a little more for that coin. The detail is good. The surfaces seem a little rough, but it's still a nice coin.

$15 is probably fair enough for that coin. The Sear catalogue quoted is old; my 1998 reprint lists number 6696 at £10 in Fine; I wouldn't be that generous with the grade on yours.
