Question: Will the death of North Korea's leader cause any movement in the bullion market? If so, up or down?

Depends on what his 3rd and youngest son says will be up next.
Kim Jong Il may not be there anymore but his possys remain the same and they are standing behind his heir. So, I don't see much changing. If anything it'll likely drive the markets down a bit just because nothing is changing.

The meltdown of the Chinese housing market will be the next big mover IMO.

True that....

I just hope his son does not get trigger happy with all those nukes at his disposal looking to the south, as I always get nervous when a new leader comes into play with that much power at his finger tips. For all we know, he is as nuts as Hitler or beyond....

My question is, "Will the 70-80 year old generals in North Korea support this whelp or not?". Many of them think of anyone under the age of 60 as a boy and something tells me they will not be real happy taking orders from anyone young enough to be their grandson.

There is a marvelous opportunity for a forward thinker to really turn that country around. It would be a very slow process but it could be done with great political skill and finesse. Does this young man possess these talents? Probably not but we will have to wait and see what happens now. I just hope that he treats the North Korean people better than his father did.

As to the effect on PM prices, all depends on whether he wants to stir up aggression or raise his people up to a higher standard of living.

I too think this could be a time to tune the county around. N korea has not really been in the limelight as of recent due to EU problems, all the N Africa and mid east overthrows so I think as long as N Korea either stays status quo I don't think much effect on PM if not anything can happen with PM as we have seen for the past year or so! No crystal ball yet.

Hypothetical changes in bullion prices based on random current events are pointless and have no purpose or place in our forum.

Good:
What should I invest in...gold or silver?

Bad:
Will the new Glee movie influence the British silver market?
