I'm trying to find info on a 1776 wm copper there were posts in march of 06 I had found so I joined to try to get in touch with those people but stll have had not luck I also have this coin and have had it for years I have done a lot of reasearch with not much success. any help would be appreciated.

Hi gmteddy and welcome to the forum.

Give it at least a few hours, maybe a day, but someone with the knowledge you are looking for will stop by and help. It takes a while to navigate and read through all of the topics if you do not logon every two hours.....lololol.

The best I can tell you is that the piece is listed in the RedBook as having doubtful origins,, now that does not mean that it is a forgery or that it was not one of the pattern pieces struck by william Moulton, it just means that information on this particular coin is very limited.This coin is listed as Rare bearing the large initials on the reverse,, and could be very valuable.

My suggestion is that you have the piece authenticated by a Museum or some similar organisation that has the resources to correctly attribute it.
