Hello, my name is Jody and I'm brand new to this site. I've read so much about all the varieties of the State Quarters over the past months. While I enjoy reading about these, I haven't searched for them. I did, however, recently find a 1945-p War Nickel, which caught my eye because of all the hype with the quarters. It definitely has errors. Looks to me to be die cracks and maybe Cuds? Maybe this is not unusual in these coins. I have not seen a lot of War Nickels. I want to send some photos of the coin, but can not get a resolution down to the 100k size. I tried the Irfanview program and will need to spend more time with it. I have some nice pics in higher resolution that I can send to emails of anyone interested or who might just be able to help me out. The coin obverse has a crack beginning near the top of the head extending diagonally thru the bask of the collar and another in the back of the head to the 4 in 1945. The reverse has a crack from the m in unum down into the right hand column of the Monticello image. I'll take any suggestions/help I can get. It'll take me a little time to get the swing of all this. Tx, Jody

Welcome Jody.

For your photos, you first need to make sure that you crop it down to a size just larger than the coin. Then resize in pixel format down to about 500. This should get it down quite a bit. From there when you do a "save as" to a folder on your desktop, whatever program you are using should have an "image quality" setting when you save. You may have to lower the image quality as well, but it should get you down under 100. I've actually had to reduce mine to under 90 lately.

Hope this helps, and again, welcome to the forum.

What I do with pics is use another site like potobucket and post pics there. Then copy the url of pic and paste it in your reply here on the forum. I do not know if this is the best option. This is just what I do.

Hi Jodyo

Welcome to the forum !!

First thing can you take your cap locks off ?

When you get the pics of a size that are postable,, please post them in the error variety forum.

War Nickels have all sorts of things that can be found on them including all of those you listed above,, it will be intereting to see the pictures.

When you achive 50 posts on the forum you can host your pics right here in your own personal photo Gallery ,, provided by the Owners of the forum !!

Welcome to our CC family!

To bring your pictures down to a smaller size, crop the image to the size of the coin. Resize it in a photo editor to 96 dpi resolution. Then change the image size to about 4x4". This should give you a pic that is under 100k.
