Nice coins and skilled woodworking! Wondering what the type(s) of wood is? Most of them look to be encased and not exposed to the wood, but are the lincoln cents directly in contact? And is that a real St. Gaudens in the face of the cabinet? Fantastic work, you should be proud!

Wheatiefan, the frames on the coin boards and the lincoln proof sets and dollars are all teak, the coat of arms and Lincoln Cent type set are cuban mahogany (from Palau actually), the wall cabinet, hutch cabinet and floor cabinet are oak with honduran and cuban mahogany veneers. The St. Gaudens is a slightly oversized replica coin. The lincolns in the type set are in direct contact with the wood, african satinwood veneer on okume ply. We'll see if it affects them, but the only one of even a little value is the 1909 vdb. I just liked having all 8 different reverses displayed together.

I have done high end woodworking professionally before (cabinet maker for builder of multimillion dollar yachts) but it's just a hobby now. Check out Nickelsearcher's website for some fantastic stuff.

Very, very impressive. I take it you live in an area of little to no crime, don't have many visitors in your home either. All of those cabinets are fantastic but I'd worry about that exposure of the contents unless no one ever sees them. That is the advantage of living in a place where such items can be displayed. Most people have to worry about anyone seeing even one coin Album. Really nice displays. Are all those Dansco's full?

Justcarl, no, it's all in my bedroom and I have very few visitors to the house, and regretably, none to the bedroom. The Dansco's are not all full, but maybe a quarter are complete (post 1964 ones) and many are in the 90% category. All coins that I buy are shipped to me at work, so no one sees coin related mail coming to me either.
